I will be displaying at the Wild about Wood event in the arboretum at Castle Howard, north of York -

I will have work on show as part of the Saltaire Arts Trail 2010 - this will take place in an open house (1 Myrtle Place) in Saltaire.

I work to create art that accentuates the character of the wood grain through the use of shaping, careful seasoning, a controlled drying process and finally finishing with natural oil - all together a slow process but well worth the effort in order to conserve the beauty that is wood.

 Each item is unique.

I am happy to take commissions either from your own source of wood (i.e. storm damaged branch from which you used to swing) or from my wood but to your requirement

Wanted

Wood, particularly Yew and Laburnum but any storm damaged timber can be used provided it is not literally rotten.

Diseased timber is what I am looking for or very well marked wood with contrasting heartwood and sapwood.

I happy to make something from the wood in exchange for a good quantity.

I am not a tree surgeon or chainsaw expect (but have received chainsaw training) - I would consider helping with the removal of wood where there is limited risk to surroundings.
